With just ten days to go before Taunton Pride returns to the County Town Organisers, along with key partners from the Community, are now working away to ensure the final elements are firmly in place ahead of this year’s event.
Before the main event itself Pride Celebrations will be taking place in Taunton in the run-up to the main event which takes place on Saturday July 22nd in Vivary Park from Noon.
Saturday July 15th sees the incredibly popular Computer World Club Night hosting a Pre-Pride Party to get everyone in the mood at The Lawns from 7.30pm till late. Those attending can expect a night of Synth Pop Classics, Disco Diva’s and the best from decades past. Tickets are still available for this by emailing [email protected]
Moving into the week of Pride itself, The Brewhouse Theatre will be hosting their very own Pride Film Festival.
Kick starting on Monday 17th July at 11am the first screening will be Rent, followed by Desert Hearts on the Tuesday 18th at 7pm, Joyland on Thursday 20th at 7pm and finally Bros. on Friday 21st at 7pm. Then it’s onto the main event, which will begin with a Pride March which will leave from Goodlands Garden at around 11.45am. Those wishing to take part can gather in Goodlands Garden from 11am.
The March will work its way up North Street, round the right hand side of The Market House, before heading up the High Street, and into Vivary Park.
Within Vivary Park those attending will be treated to the ToneFM Main Stage, hosting a whole range of acts including Eurovision Legend Nicky French, the voice of Bizarre Inc. Angie Brown, House Diva Amrick Channa & Drag Cabaret Legend and former contestant of RuPaul’s Drag Race Joe Black, plus host Arina Fox, and Tanuton’s very own Valerie Von Hussle.
Organisers still have other acts to announce, and it doesn’t stop there. Alongside the live entertainment you will also find 70 Exhibitors, Traders and Community Groups present, Dorothy’s Silent Disco, the very first Pride Funfair, Speakers Corner, a Wellbeing Zone, plus independent Traders, and the very best in Street Food.
Tickets for this year’s event, which are helping to fund the production, will be available right up until the day of the event. Currently priced at £7.50, they can either be purchased online at www.tauntonpride.co.uk or by visiting the Taunton Visitor Centre on Fore Street.
Tickets on the day will also be available via the onsite box office at £10.00 per person. Tickets however do permit re-entry to the event as many times as visitors would like.
The event has also been made possible this year by a host of Partners. This includes; ToneFM, Every’s Solicitors, Somerset Web Services, White Knight Marketing, The Somerset County Gazette, Crescent Funeral Services, First Bus, Suez Waste, Claims Consortium Group, Somerset Council, Taunton Town Council, Somerset Jobs and Hertz Van Rental.
Organisers are now hoping for good weather, and another great event, but are also still looking for Volunteers to come forward on the day in question to help run what will be another superb Taunton Pride.
Organisers said “If you can spare three hours, entry to the event for Volunteers is free, and you’ll be helping the Community to create something special for Taunton, and our surrounding areas.
